TRAINING - deckhand inland waters
When you want to work on sailing vessels on Dutch inland waters, you need to apply for a service booklet ('dienstboekje').
In order to apply you must attend a deckhand training course.
This is a general training that lasts 3 days (from Thursday to Saturday) and consists of the following components:
1. use of life-saving equipment to prevent drowning
2. specific working conditions aboard a vessel
3. fire fighting on board a vessel
4. risks on board due to noise
5. handling hazardous materials aboard a vessel
6. First Aid basics
7. emergency alarm and evacuation
The Enkhuizer Zeevaartschool (Enkhuizen Nautical College) is an accredited provider of this deckhand training course.

You can indicate which date you prefer on the registration form (accessible via the button at the bottom of this page).
The course will take place with a minimum of 8 participants.
Possible exemptions:
1st day - if you are in possession of a valid (max. 1 year old) Dutch BHV certificate (not obtained online); or
1st and 2nd day - if you have a valid STCW Basic Safety Training certificate (max. 5 years old).

Cost: €495.00 per person.
